General
What is the Leadfeeder Tracker?
The Leadfeeder Tracker is a small JavaScript snippet that you add to your website. It is designed to load asynchronously, meaning it does not block or slow down your page load speed.
What is the purpose of the tracker?
The primary purpose of the tracker is to identify which companies are visiting your website. It achieves this by analyzing technical signals, such as the IP address, matching those signals against large company databases, and enriching the visit with firmographic details like company name and industry. In plain language, it converts anonymous web traffic into a list of real companies showing buying intent.
Data Collection and Insights
What data does the tracker collect?
For each identified company visit, the tracker surfaces the following data in near real-time (usually within 5 to 10 minutes of the visit):
Time and date of visit.
Traffic source and medium (e.g., organic search, paid ad, direct).
Pages viewed and the duration of stay on each page.
Total length of the session.
A unique visit ID for attribution inside the tool.
How is the tracker script delivered?
The script is served via AWS CloudFront with global edge locations. This ensures fast loading and limited performance impact for end users.
Privacy and Compliance
Is the Leadfeeder Tracker GDPR compliant?
Yes, Leadfeeder (part of Dealfront) is a fully GDPR-compliant solution. The core output of the tracker is company-level intent data, which is not considered personal data and does not involve individual tracking by default.
Does the tracker collect PII (Personally Identifiable Information)?
By default, the tracker only shows companies, not named individuals. The processing of IP addresses is used solely to map the session to a company and enrich it with business information.
Does the tracker rely on third-party cookies?
No. The tracker uses first-party data collection methods and its own identification logic. It does not rely on third-party cookies, meaning browser-level blocking of third-party cookies does not prevent it from working.
How is consent handled?
The tracker can run in a consent-aware mode if your website utilizes a Consent Management Platform (CMP). You can configure the tracker to set cookies only after visitor consent is granted. Even without consent, the tracker can still identify companies, maximizing value while remaining compliant.
What if the tracker is blocked by a Content Security Policy (CSP)?
Some companies run a CSP that blocks unknown scripts. If so, they might need to allowlist the tracker domain in their CSP so it can load.
What is the legal basis for processing data?
Dealfront processes data based on legitimate interest (GDPR Article 6(1)(f)) for B2B purposes. When you implement the Leadfeeder Tracker, a Data Processing Agreement (DPA) is automatically concluded between you (the Data Controller) and Dealfront (the Data Processor) to ensure compliance with GDPR requirements.

What are the common installation options?
What happens after installation?
Once the script is live, Dealfront starts recording visits. Within minutes you will begin to see identified company visits in the Dealfront interface under Website Tracker.
Note: It may take up to an hour for the tracker status to change to "receiving data" and for the first visits to appear. You should also verify your Hostname rules in Dealfront settings to ensure the correct domains are tracked.
