With regard to the personal data processed while using the Leadfeeder Tracker, the Customer acts as the Data Controller and Dealfront acts as the Data Processor. This relationship is governed by Dealfront’s Data Processing Agreement.
How Does the Tracking Technology Work?
When a customer implements the Leadfeeder Tracker on their website, the following information is collected from website-visitors via cookies (for cookieless usage please see below):
Source and Medium Source, Medium, Campaign, Keyword, if applicable (from UTMs or google analytics)
Visitor ID number (as set by a cookie)
IP address
Visitor behavior (e.g. (sub)pages visited, time and date of visit, duration of visit)
The following cookies are stored on the device/s of a website visitor:
Name | Description | Storage Duration |
_lfa | Detailed description in this article.
| Expires after 1 year |
_lfa_consent
| If your website has enabled the consent manager support for Dealfront, the visitor consent status is stored to this cookie. | Expires after 2 years |
_lfa_test_cookie_stored
| A cookie that is only temporarily used to check if the browser supports cookies or not. This cookie might show up in a cookie scanner for your consent management platform.
| Expires immediately
|
_lfa_expiry | A local storage variable to store the duration for the Dealfront clientID stored in browser LocalStorage. | 2 years |
The Leadfeeder Tracker does not use any 3rd party cookies. It can also be used without cookies. If cookies are disabled, the tracking script will still identify companies visiting your website. However, it won’t be able to recognize individual visitors on your website as returning (repeat) visitors. No cookie is dropped on the web visitor in this case.
In this case, please contact our support team. You can also choose to use “IP anonymisation”, which means that only a shortened IP address instead of the actual IP address is stored. As an example, IP address 212.50.143.138 would become 212.50.143.0. This anonymisation makes it impossible to connect outside IP address information later, preventing singling out an individual visitor.
Please note: it is your responsibility to properly implement Dealfront's tracking technology in accordance with the applicable laws and regulations on your website.
Guidelines on Informing Your Website Visitors About the Leadfeeder Tracker
In order to support your implementation of the Leadfeeder Tracker technology, we have gathered the following information:
Privacy policy language
Cookie Management configuration options
If you use any Dealfront technology on your website, you should provide your website visitors with information about it in your website privacy policy. You are not legally required to mention Dealfront or Leadfeeder as a product, but it's advisable to be transparent about the data collected from your visitors.
You could include the following text in your Privacy Policy:
Our website uses the technologies of Dealfront (Liidio Oy as part of Dealfront Group GmbH) to analyze visitor behavior. |
In this process, the IP address of a visitor is processed. |
This processing has the purpose of helping us understand which businesses (B2B) are visiting our site, by enriching IPs with associated information such as the company name or industry code. |
To do this, at the beginning of the visitor’s session, their IP address and corresponding session data is matched against a large whitelist of known companies. |
Optional (depending on customer’s choice): To increase data protection of our visitors we have turned on “IP address anonymisation”, so that only shortened values instead of the actual IP addresses will be stored. If the feature is on, we will not store the actual IP address anywhere in our systems, including logs. This anonymisation makes it impossible to connect outside IP address information later, preventing identification of an individual person. |
Optional (depending on customer’s choice): As part of this processing, first party cookies are used in order to analyze visitor behavior. |
Whenever we process website traffic data, this is based on our legitimate interest (Art. 6 (1) lit. f GDPR) in optimizing our products, services, sales and marketing. |
To prevent this processing activity, you (website visitor) may install and configure appropriate ad-blockers or use no-script-plugins in your browser. |
The data will be deleted as soon as it is no longer required for its intended purposes. Statutory retention obligations can lead to a longer retention period of the data in question. |
We have concluded a data processing agreement with Dealfront in order to ensure compliance with applicable data protection standards. |
With regard to your cookie consent management, please note: we offer various configuration options as to how the Leadfeeder Tracker can be used on your website, including support for connecting it with a consent management solution.
Find out more about cookies and consent management in this article.
In addition, if your website has a separate cookie policy page, include information of Dealfront cookies (as displayed above) on it.
