If you've automated your custom feeds but are running into issues this article can help you with both troubleshooting and our most frequently asked questions.
Q: Will the automation trigger as soon as the identified company/lead hits one page?
Yes, the automation will trigger the first time the lead/company matches the filters. However, it will be executed depending on its frequency. "Send to CRM" automation will be triggered only once for a given lead/company. After it is connected to your CRM account, the visits will be synced to that CRM account if you allow visits syncing.
Q: How does Slack or email automation differ from Slack or email actions?
Currently, both features do similar but different things. You can add any email address in both, but the automation via email will run for every new lead that’s discovered for the first time, while the email tab will send a summary of all lead visits.
Q: When does the 'Add a tag' automation not run?
Automation for adding tags does not run for lite accounts.
Q: Why did my automation for identified companies/leads not work?
The identified companies must match the custom feed filter for the automation to work. If your automation did not run, it means the filter was not matched or there was not enough time to match the filter.
Q: Which filters prevent custom feed automation from running properly?
Using filters that start with 'CRM...' can stop an automation from working as the system has to first look to see if the filter condition has been fulfilled already. For example: 'CRM owner is xyz' or 'CRM is not connected', etc.
Also, the filter 'at least 2 visits' do not allow enough time for the system to work properly. This applies especially to the frequency 'when new lead/company appears' and can be solved by using the frequency 'daily' or 'weekly'.
Q: What does it mean when selecting 'Assign' as an automation?
An email will be sent to that user automatically containing the visit details from the automated custom feed.
Q: How do I assign the automation from one user to another?
Whoever creates the automation will be visible as the creator even if they are no longer a user/have left the company. If you want to change that without having to delete the automation and have a new user recreate it, please ask your CSM or our support team for technical assistance.
Q: Why does my automation from a custom feed to CRM only work for newly created leads?
Any Leadfeeder custom feed to CRM automation works only for newly created leads. Leads that already exist can’t be sent automatically based on newly established custom feed filters.
Q: What happens when I set up automation on multiple custom feeds?
If you set up automation (for example tag automation) on multiple custom feeds (one feed adds one tag and the other one includes the lead from the first feed with a tag and adds another tag) The order of automation execution is non-deterministic, and usually, they execute in parallel, so, unfortunately, we can’t set up any “dependency” between automation and use it to build a workflow. That means you can't have a custom feed that executes first and a custom feed that executes second.
Q: What happens when I set multiple automations?
For tagging automation, if you set multiple automations with different frequencies on the same custom feed this will apply a tag for each automation at a different time.
For 'Send to CRM' automation, the automation will be executed only once per identified company/lead.
Q: When the Dealfront identified company/lead visits new pages, will those updated visits be sent to CRM?
The visit will be sent to the connected CRM account through our syncing mechanism every morning following the visit, even if the custom feed automation is not on anymore, as long as you have allowed visits to be sent to connected accounts in Outgoing Field Mapping.
Q: Could it happen that the wrong CRM company is connected to the Dealfront Leadfeeder company?
We match and sync based on the name of the company, domain name, and domain name email address part. This process expects that all connections in your CRM are correct. If, for example, the contact/email address john@ikea.com is connected to a company named Food AG in your CRM, this CRM company might be synced incorrectly with Ikea company in Leadfeeder based on the incorrect email/contact connection in your CRM.
Q: Can I use custom feed automation with webCRM?
No, it's not possible to use custom feed automation with webCRM. Only Dynamics 365, HubSpot CRM, Pipedrive, Salesforce, and Zoho are supported.
