The Leadfeeder Tracker can be added directly to the source code of your website if needed.
If you have the option to install the tracker with Google Tag Manager we recommend that you do so. If you don't have Google Tag Manager on your site, don't worry, you can add the Tracker script directly to your HTML.
A friendly warning, if you aren't familiar with HTML, or how your website is built you should ask your team to help! Unexpected errors can have a big impact on your site if you accidentally change something you shouldn't have while trying to add the Leadfeeder Tracker.
Another point that is very important to keep in mind when installing the Leadfeeder tracking script directly to the HTML of your site is this: the script has to be set up for all of your pages.
Typically this is done by putting the script in a head template that is used on every page. However, if each page on your site is static HTML you will need to make sure the Leadfeeder Tracker code is inserted onto every page individually.
Watch this video below on how to add the tracking script directly to your website template or follow step by step guidelines below.
STEP 1: Navigate to your Leadfeeder Tracker script. You can either click here, or find your Company settings by clicking on the gear ⚙️ icon at the top right of the app and then choosing the Company tab. Then select Website Tracker > Tracker Script. Use the Copy to Clipboard button to copy the script.
STEP 2: In your code editor of choice open the file that contains your <head> code.
Remember if you don't use the same head on each page you will need to insert the code on each page of your site.
Locate the closing head tag </head>.
STEP 3: Paste the Leadfeeder Tracker script before the closing head tag. Double-check to make sure it is exactly as shown in your Dealfront settings, simple typos can prevent the script from firing.
STEP 4: Make sure you save your files and send them to your production environment.
STEP 5: As the final step, you'll need to check your Hostname rules. Hostname rules are defined automatically based on the website information you provided during the signup process. It's always best to check that they are correct and match with the domains you want to track in your Dealfront account.
Navigate to your Dealfront Account settings > Traffic filtering > Hostname rules. You'll be able to see a list of which websites the Leadfeeder Tracker is already installed on.
If a website you want to track is not listed, you need to install the Leadfeeder Tracker on that website and add the URL as a new hostname rule. You can find out more about Traffic Rules here.
Please note: It can take up to an hour for your new companies to show up in Leadfeeder. You will see it as Not installed and Not receiving data in your settings during this wait time.
That's it! Sit back and relax. With everything set up properly on your site and in the Dealfront settings, you should begin tracking visiting companies very soon!
