Installing the Dealfront Website Tracker onto your WordPress website is simple, and you have a couple of options!
The first and quickest way is to install Tracker with Google Tag Manager. If you already have Google Tag Manager (GTM) on your site, then using it is the fastest, easiest thing to do. If you don't have GTM, don't worry, there are other options.
Please note: To be able to add the script to your WordPress settings, you need to have either a Super Admin or Administrator user role in WordPress.
Sometimes you will need to clear the cache in WordPress before the Dealfront Tracker script gets published on your site. In that case, this article might help you further.
The video below highlights the simple steps you need to take to add the Dealfront tracking script onto your WordPress website. We've also detailed each step in writing.
Option 1: Use a Plugin to Insert the Dealfront Website Tracker
STEP 1: Add a plugin just as you would any other, by going to Add New under your Plugins menu inside WordPress.
STEP 2: You can search here for a plugin that inserts scripts into the header of your site, or you can upload one if you have a favourite already. Please also check in your 'Installed Plugins' list in case your site already has one of these types of plugins installed.
STEP 3: We often use H&F's 'Header, Footer, and Post Injections' plugin. However, you could use a different one as every site is unique and not every plugin is compatible with every site. Choose what works for you and click Install Now.
STEP 4: Once your plugin is installed make sure you activate it using one of the methods as shown below.
STEP 5: Find your plugin settings and insert the script in the Header of your site. You can also install it into the footer - however, we recommend the header! Make sure it goes onto every page!
You can find the Tracking script in your User Settings > Company > Website Tracker > Tracking Script - copy and paste this from here.
STEP 6: Don’t forget to save your changes in Wordpress!
STEP 7: Edit your Traffic filtering rules in your Dealfront User Settings, under the Account tab.

Option 2: Insert the Dealfront Website Tracker Directly into Your Theme's Header Template File
Please note: If you aren't familiar with WordPress and themes please reach out to a member of your team or use one of the other methods listed. You can negatively impact your site if a theme update is done incorrectly.
STEP 1: Within your WordPress dashboard navigate to your Theme Editor - found under Appearance.
STEP 2: Once in the theme editor open the Theme Header, typically header.php.
STEP 3: Now paste the Tracker script above the closing head tag.
Be sure to copy it exactly as shown in your User settings. Using the copy to clipboard option and pasting from there is best.
Once you have the script inserted, click Update File in Wordpress.
STEP 4: Edit your Traffic filtering rules in your Dealfront User Settings, under the Account tab.
Once everything is set up properly and new visits are seen, it can take up to an hour to show you new companies in Web Visitors. Hang in there!
